Utah & Arches N.P.

We left Colorado on Tuesday afternoon and drove through the mountains of Colorado (past all of the ski resorts) on I-70.  It was an amazing drive.  We had some nasty rain, but Alain was a trooper through the storm and it cleared right around the time that we hit the West edge of the Rockies.  Our goal was to make it to Moab, Utah by that evening and we were successful!  Moab is right outside of Arches National Park and that was the ultimate goal for Wednesday.

So, we woke up in Utah, ate some breakfast at our hotel and went straight to Arches!  We got there early, so we were able to avoid a lot of crowds at first.  It's a small park, but it's amazing to see.  The first area we hiked around at was called "The City" (I think).  I should probably take out the brochure to check it, but I'm feeling lazy right now.  It's called "The City" because the rock formations appear like the skyline of a city.  The rocks are tall and narrow like a city building with various shapes and sizes.  We hiked into a small canyon and tested our echoes.  The kids thought that was super-fun (and so did we)!

After the "City" we explored the double windows and the turret arch!  These are some icons for Arches National Park and we had the best time just climbing all over the arches and rocks everywhere.  It's amazing to stand underneath the arches!  They are huge. . .  much bigger than I could have imagined.
